Dongguan Yulan Theatre
Dongguan Yulan Theatre is a landmark cultural building in Dongguan city centre. It was designed by the world-famous Canadian theatre designer Carlos Ott, and was awarded the China Construction Engineering Luban Prize (National Quality Project) in 2006. Its shape is chic and novel, with the main building court resembling a peplum of flamenco dance flying on Dongguan Central Plaza. The theatre features a 1600-seat Grand Theatre with a fully mechanised stage, an orchestra pit for 120 musicians, and rehearsal rooms suitable for ballet, opera and choir. Since opening in 2005, it has staged over 130 performances annually, with support and appreciation from local audience.
